Carpet styles

There are four types of carpet style:

Twist – Stylish and practical this style is made from twisting yarn tightly together, making the carpets durable and easy to look after.

Saxony – These carpets are deep, thick and luxurious. With slightly longer pile you’ll feel your feet sink deep into the fibres for a warm, cosy feel.



Loop pile – The classic carpet. Strong and durable they are perfect for every room in the house.

Patterned – A patterned carpet can be fun, elegant and make a real statement. Not only do they have personality they hide marks well too!

Each type is available in a range of colours, so with hundreds of options on offer we are bound to be able to find the perfect carpet for your room.

Wool carpets — newer for longer

As wool is a renewable source it is great for the environment, but not only that it naturally repels soil and dirt. In fact wool carpets are so good at staying clean that stain treatment is never applied in the factory.

Another great thing about wool carpets are the extremely tough fibres. They are naturally resistant to the crushing that occurs from use, meaning they stay looking newer for longer — even in high-traffic areas like doorways and landings.

Despite having a slightly higher cost per square meter than their man-made equivalent, the extra years of wear you get out of a wool carpet often means they tend of work out cheaper in the long run.

Man-made fibre carpets

15 years ago we would have advised you to avoid man-made fibres such as Nylon and Polypropylene. However, times have changed and things have moved on!

 The advancements in carpet fibre technology have resulted in man-made fibre carpets running side-by — side with wool where quality is concerned. They often feel as soft as wool, and by introducing two-ply yarn, manufacturers are able to mimic wool’s natural resistance to crushing. 

Despite this, man-made home carpets will not hold their appearance for as long as wool carpets. But what they lack in longevity of appearance they make up for in stain resistance – many manufacturers are now offering a lifetime guarantee, confident that even red wine won’t be able to stain them!
